DESCRIPTION

Bougainvillea (Bougainvillea glabra) is a sun-loving ornamental plant prized for its vibrant, papery bracts in shades of pink, red, orange, and purple. Native to South America, this tropical climber thrives in sunny, well-ventilated spaces and rewards with spectacular blooms when exposed to direct sunlight for most of the day. In Singapore’s warm and humid weather, Bougainvillea is relatively low-maintenance — just water it 2–3 times a week and allow the soil to dry slightly between sessions. It prefers well-draining soil and dislikes wet feet, so avoid soggy conditions. While it's not suitable for pets due to mild toxicity and thorns, it’s an excellent choice for balconies, patios, and garden spaces that receive ample sunlight. With proper care and the occasional trim to shape, this drought-tolerant beauty will continue to flourish and bloom throughout the year.
